SLEEP ELEVATIONS: PEACEFUL SURREALISM BY MAIA FLORE

Maia Flore is a Paris-based photographer whose thought-provoking images explore the “coincidences between reality and her imagination.” Featured here is a selection for her first series, titled “Sleep Elevations,” which was inspired by the artist’s childhood memories. Blending soft, feminine imagery with surrealism, the sleeping women are gently lifted across peaceful landscapes, their bodies light as feathers. Released from the weight of the world, they surrender with trust to their new surroundings. Visit Flore’s website to view more of her beautiful projects, which explore French heritage, inventive methods of narration, and more.

Manet & Monet & Renoir & Degas💃

Here's the "Olympia" of Egourad Manet.

Olympia is a painting by Édouard Manet, first exhibited at the 1865 Paris Salon, which shows a nude woman ("Olympia") lying on a bed being brought flowers by a servant. Olympia was modelled by Victorine Meurent and Olympia's servant by the art model Laure. Olympia's confrontational gaze caused shock and astonishment when the painting was first exhibited because a number of details in the picture identified her as a prostitute.

What shocked contemporary audiences was not Olympia's nudity, nor the presence of her fully clothed maid, but her confrontational gaze and a number of details identifying her as a demi-mondaine or prostitute. These include the orchid in her hair, her bracelet, pearl earrings and the oriental shawl on which she lies, symbols of wealth and sensuality. The black ribbon around her neck, in stark contrast with her pale flesh, and her cast-off slipper underline the voluptuous atmosphere. "Olympia" was a name associated with prostitutes in 1860s Paris.

Manet replaced the little dog (symbol of fidelity) in Titian's painting with a black cat, which traditionally symbolized prostitution. Olympia disdainfully ignores the flowers presented to her by her servant, probably a gift from a client. Some have suggested that she is looking in the direction of the door, as her client barges in unannounced.

This painting is Monet's, which is really colorful, the color looks very comfortable, have very strong visual impact.

His color style is really special and beautiful, most of Monet's works are landscape.

Monet was a founder of French Impressionist painting, from 1883 Monet lived in Giverny, where he purchased a house and property and began a vast landscaping project which included lily ponds that would become the subjects of his best-known works.

Luncheon of the Boating Party is a painting by French impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Included in the Seventh Impressionist Exhibition in 1882, it was identified as the best painting in the show by three critics.

Edgar Degas was a French artist famous for his paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings. He is especially identified with the subject of dance; more than half of his works depict dancers.

He is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism, although he rejected the term, preferring to be called a realist. He was a superb draftsman, and particularly masterly in depicting movement, as can be seen in his rendition of dancers, racecourse subjects and female nudes.

His portraits are notable for their psychological complexity and for their portrayal of human isolation.

BAPO Chinese Art

The term "bapo," means "eight brokens," first time when i saw this words, i don't even know what is that, now i did some research, in Chinese it's "八破", looks like a very old word related about traditional custom,so now is kind of rare to see. Eight is a lucky number in Chinese culture, and broken, or less-than-complete, objects can also have favorable implications, since perfection could bring about misfortune.

let me show some pictures of "BAPO" Chinese Art.

This is a very symbolic tea pot with BAPO art on it. It is a kind of folk painting of ornamentation, which appeared in the late nineteenth Century and extended to the middle of twentieth Century.
the composition of every single one object is made from different broken pieces, every different pieces have different meaning. But the whole thing is always coordinate.
Which means almost all the animals shows up on "BAPO" art is always pincers,Shrimp tail,Chicken feather, clamshell,Bamboo sheath and lotus seedpod.
